Instagram is one of the many social networks where etiquette should be used.

The Harlem Shake. Youtube. Facebook.Instagram.What is social media? Is it a broad network where fellow individuals post their outrageous dances? Or perhaps it’s just a place where we all go to be entertained. But all that knee-slapping, stomach-clenching fun has its restrictions. It’s a little something called “etiquette”. Yes, social media has certain limits to its wide range of hilarious stunts. These limits must fall close to being kid-friendly and non-offensive, because after all, there are young impressionable kids and sensitive souls watching. With social media being the main squeeze of attention and fascination in the world today, proper requirements and class are most definitely called for.

The Harlem Shake is a very recent new wave of excitement. The eye-catching dance involves a bit of risque, care-free body shaking, but also stirs up many laughs and smiles. So does this dance meet etiquette standards? Well, of course in the past  there were many dances or videos that showed lack of self- control. Videos that fall into this particular category of distaste can usually get mixed reactions of disgust and humor. What the videos ignite in some watchers might just be a bit terrible.

As stated before, kids are glued to the social media scene. Their little eyes and brains soak up every single detail from the media, and in return they mirror it. And by mirroring, I mean they go out and actually try and be just like the videos they’ve seen. These reactions can be cute or absolutely horrific. Inappropriate dances are usually what young children see half the time, and it truly disrupts their minds. So this is where the etiquette part of social media really falls into par. Social media is a constant influence on today’s younger generation, so filtered good behavior is most needed. Social media etiquette isn’t just a term used to sound fancy. It’s a most needed factor to help make things shine a bit more leveled and classy.

But what about other methods of social media like Instagram? Are there any etiquette rules for particular breed of entertainment? Of course there are. Instagram etiquette comes in a more simple form: monitor the amount of pictures you post in a day. Three is the magic number. If you post more than that, then you’ll be labeled as one who doesn’t know or respect the rules. As little and petty these regulations may seem, they really do matter. Facebook etiquette has similar rules, but its rules are more concerned with what you post. Immature or reckless posts could really harm not only your image but future. To comply with proper etiquette in the Twitter world, don’t post too much in one day.
