Senior Lavett Gripper high jumped her way to the state track competition. Gripper has worked extremely hard this year, pushing her body to the limit in practice and eating healthy foods to help nourish her body. With all this hard work, Gripper beat her personal record this season with an outstanding jump of 5 feet 4 inches. She said, “In order to win state I have to continue to work hard, stay focused and always give my best in practice.”
While Gripper is an outstanding athlete, her main focus will always be school. “Balancing school and track is very difficult at times but I am used to being a student athlete so I can handle it.” With a GPA of 3.7, Gripper is continuing her education in college with an academic scholarship.
Lavet is a great athlete who wants to pass on her state experience to the upcoming freshman. “To all those future high jumpers out stay focused, have confidence and always give your best in practice.”
Gripper competed in the AAAA State Championship May 9-11 in Albany, Ga. She finished 9th in her event. Congratulations Lavett and Sandy Creek hopes to hear more from you in the future.
