Millions of people watched the big game February 3 hoping their favorite team won, but lots of people just tuned in for the half-time,  awaiting the arrival of Beyoncé. This R&B and pop superstar was highly anticipated. Some people weren’t even football fans as they waited in the stands for Beyoncé.

Loud screams came from everywhere as the lights turned out and the stage lit up. Beyoncé appeared on stage looking better than ever, even after just having her baby a year ago. The stage had a wonderful view and creative abstracts, if you were watching at home.  The display was beautiful, it  showed art made from bright red lights. The stage was built to resemble her face. There was also a mesmerizing  shot of her dancing with her on stage in front of a mirror like object with two girls dancing alongside her, which was acheived through holograms and high tech graphics. It looked as if she were dancing with multiple sets of  herself.

Beyoncé sung through many of  her hits, starting with “Love on Top”. She continued by performing ”Crazy in Love,” “End of Time,” and “Baby Boy.” Beyoncé is a great performer and she is going to dance, that is what she does. However, I believed she danced and swung her hair more than she said anything.  The moment I was waiting for was the Destiny’s Child ‘reunion’. As Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland popped on the stage beside Beyoncé, the anticipation swept through me, this was it, it was coming. They belted out “Bootylicious” and “Independent Women” and they never missed a beat. Then they performed Beyoncés’ famous  “Single Ladies” and the girls were gone. I loved seeing them together but it was short-lived. It was a Beyoncé event but I would have loved to see more of Destiny’s Child.  Beyoncé ended with singing “Halo,” which was my favorite part of the night.

People raved about how Beyoncé caused the light shortage by using as much light as possible for her stage presentation. They also said she lip synced, however I do not believe so. I don’t think she would pull the same stunt as she did at the Inauguration. Her outfit was a big deal. She wore a leather ensemble that got slammed by PETA. They said she wore too much animal skin, however, I think people overreacted. Overall, Beyoncé stole the show. The football game was biggest game of the season, but it couldn’t outshine Beyoncé.
